To buy a new anchor windlass was a hard decision. The old windlass was working ok but not that reliable even after I worked on it and replace a part or two. It belonged to the boat and is unique but if I want to do cruising that doesn’t include every night at a marina I need a good windlass. The “Lofrans Royal” is a manual windlass. I didn’t want to cram an electrical motor and all the equipment for a motorized windlass into the little space forward. Also raising the anchor by hand is good exercise it makes a cup of coffee taste better in the morning.
