The trip across the Straights of Georgia was a piece of cake.
Arrived in Friday Harbor this afternoon. We are were trying to arrive here before the heavy weather set in and it would be difficult to meet our date to go through customs. Even though customs doesn’t do boat documents on weekends the official took pity on us and did the paper work. Merva is now officially a U.S. boat. We’ve had a good trip, Merva is an easy boat to handle and of course draws a lot of attention. Today was our first day of putting her in a slip and all went well. We’ll have to hunker down here for at least one day maybe more until the weather system moves on. Then we get to back out of the slip.
While we were in Ladysmith we met Judy McKay the woman that took Merva up the Inner coastal waterway. I invited her aboard and she had a lot of stories. I’ve got her card and I’m going to ask her for more information.
